My Jewish Community in the Gaza Strip and Gush Katif - A personal story.
With Yoav Yaron

Overview

Yoav Yaron was born and raised in the Jewish community in Gush-Katif in Gaza, where his family lived until the Israeli government completely withdrew from Gaza and removed all its Jewish residents in 2005 in a decision known as the “disengagement” or “uprooting”.

This is the personal story of Yoav’s life, the communities Yoav grew up in, and their experiences before during and after the events of 2005.

This is not a political talk, nor an analysis of the current conflict in Gaza, though it does add an important historical context.

This talk is a joint program of Chabad of New Canaan and the United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford, New Canaan & Darien.

About Yoav Yaron:

Yoav will soon be completing his service as a Community Shaliach at the United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford, New Canaan & Darien.

Yoav has a B.A from Hebrew University in Comparative Literature and Jewish Studies, a teaching certificate from Kerem Institute in Literature and Israeli culture, and an M.A from Haifa University in American Jewish Studies (The Ruderman Program).
